Material Handler Job Description This role supports production operations by safely handling materials, performing general labor tasks, and maintaining accurate inventory within a busy, hands-on warehouse and shop environment. You will move, organize, and prepare materials, operate material-handling equipment, and help keep the work area clean and safe while working closely with production and warehouse teams. Responsibilities Clean and prepare forms and components for painting and repair. Assemble, disassemble, and replace components as needed to support production. Supply production employees with required materials by identifying, locating, and delivering parts. Move materials to and from storage areas, docks, and production zones using appropriate equipment and methods. Assist with unloading trucks, containers, and other deliveries in a safe and efficient manner. Read and analyze warehouse paperwork to ensure accuracy of orders, shipments, and inventory transactions. Verify that all items are received correctly and placed in their proper storage locations. Inspect and operate material-handling equipment safely and correctly, reporting any issues immediately. Maintain accurate inventory records and help ensure stock is organized and accessible. Organize incoming materials and follow all quality processes and procedures. Perform additional tasks and general labor duties as assigned by supervision, including work in the pre-build section of the shop. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including tools and equipment. Organize and maintain storage locations such as pallets, racks, and shelves. Ensure all products and materials are properly labeled and returned to the correct locations. Follow all federal, state, and local safety regulations at all times. Identify and help correct potential safety hazards in the work area. Adhere to all company safety rules, procedures, and requirements. Use required personal protective equipment consistently and correctly. Report or correct, when qualified, equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, material issues, or product deviations. Act with integrity by being responsible, trustworthy, and respectful in daily work. Deliver quality work by following standard processes and making data-driven decisions where applicable. Demonstrate innovation through curiosity, self-awareness, and continuous improvement. Essential Skills Experience with general material handling in a warehouse, shop, or production environment. Ability to perform general labor tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials throughout the shift. Experience with packaging materials and products for storage or shipment. Ability to safely use hand tools for assembly, disassembly, and basic repairs. Experience operating or assisting with forklift operations, or willingness to learn under supervision. Ability to perform inventory tasks, including counting, tracking, and recording materials accurately. Experience with picking materials and fulfilling production or warehouse orders. Ability to use an RF scanner or similar handheld device to track inventory and materials. Ability to read, understand, and accurately follow warehouse paperwork and instructions. Strong attention to detail to ensure materials are labeled, stored, and recorded correctly. Commitment to following safety rules, using personal protective equipment, and identifying hazards. Ability to work in a physically demanding, non-climate-controlled, and sometimes dirty environment. Reliability to work assigned shifts and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as a material handler, warehouse worker, or general laborer in a production or pre-build environment. Familiarity with organizing storage locations such as pallets, racks, and shelves. Experience maintaining clean and orderly work areas in an industrial setting. Comfort working with standard operating procedures and quality processes. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with production and warehouse staff. Work Environment This position operates in a dirty, non-climate-controlled warehouse and shop environment where temperatures and conditions vary with the seasons. You will work primarily on-site during a shift of 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for the first 23 months, supporting general labor and material handling tasks in the pre-build section of the shop. The role is hands-on and physically active, involving frequent movement, lifting, and use of material-handling equipment such as forklifts and RF scanners, as well as hand tools. You will be expected to follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment as part of the standard dress and safety requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Conley, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
