Job Title:
General Laborer Job Description This role supports food production operations in two facilities that prepare soups, broths, seasonings, and packaged pet food. You will perform a variety of general labor tasks such as assisting cooks, packing cases, loading and unloading materials, and floating between roles to keep production running smoothly. The position involves physically demanding work in a warm, fast-paced, and safety-focused environment. Responsibilities Assist cooks in preparing and producing dog food, soups, broths, and seasonings by following established processes and instructions. Work in a hot production environment while maintaining safety and quality standards at all times. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds as an assistant cook to move ingredients, materials, and products as needed. Collaborate closely with cooks and other team members to ensure efficient production and accurate mixing and batching of products. Load and unload trucks as a case packer, ensuring products and materials are handled carefully and efficiently. Bring raw materials and ingredients to assistant cooks to keep production lines supplied and minimize downtime. Lift and move 30+ pounds frequently when performing case packer and loader/unloader duties. Move racks of packaged soups and other finished products around the facility as a loader/unloader, ensuring items are staged correctly and safely. Perform utility or "floater" duties by rotating through assistant cook, case packer, loader/unloader, and other general labor tasks based on operational needs. Support food preparation, food production, packaging, and sorting activities on the production line. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including proper use of smocks, hairnets, and safety glasses. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, promptly addressing spills, debris, and potential hazards. Adhere to all production, safety, and quality procedures, including proper handling of food products and packaging. Work assigned shifts and overtime as needed to support production demands, including up to 10 hours of overtime and occasional voluntary weekend work. Pay is $17hr Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Evansville, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $19.00/hr.
