Full Job Description Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler supports production and warehouse operations by safely moving raw materials to the production floor and transferring finished goods to the warehouse for storage and shipment. This role works closely with the warehouse team and production leadership to ensure accurate material flow, order readiness, and timely staging of products for shipping. The position involves frequent use of stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, handheld scanners, and inventory systems to maintain accurate stock levels and prepare shipments. Responsibilities Transport raw materials from storage areas to the production floor to ensure continuous production flow. Move finished goods from production to the warehouse and place them in appropriate storage locations. Coordinate with warehouse staff and production leadership to confirm material needs, order priorities, and shipping schedules. Verify quantities of finished goods against documentation before storing or staging them for shipment. Use handheld scanners to accurately pull, track, and record inventory for shipping and internal movements. Access and update the company's inventory system to maintain accurate stock records and locations. Prepare shipments using UPS and FedEx shipping portals, including creating labels and processing outbound orders as needed. Operate stand-up forklifts and reach trucks safely to move pallets and materials throughout the facility. Follow established safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines at all times. Lift and handle materials weighing up to 75 pounds as part of daily tasks. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in both warehouse and production spaces. Essential Skills Proven experience operating a stand-up forklift. Proven experience operating a reach truck or the ability to learn reach truck operation with prior forklift experience. Experience working in a warehouse or material handling environment. Ability to use handheld scanners for inventory pulling and tracking. Experience using inventory systems to access and update stock information. Ability to use computer systems, including UPS and FedEx shipping portals, to process shipments. Capability to lift and move up to 75 pounds safely and repeatedly. Strong attention to detail when verifying quantities and preparing shipments. Ability to communicate effectively with warehouse and production teams to align on material needs and priorities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating both stand-up and sit-down forklifts. Prior experience in shipping and receiving environments. Familiarity with industrial or manufacturing settings, especially handling finished goods and raw materials. Stable work history demonstrating reliability and strong tenure in previous roles. The schedule involves hands-on work in both warehouse and production areas, with regular lifting of materials up to 75 pounds and adherence to standard safety practices and appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carpentersville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
