Warehouse Worker Job Description The Warehouse Worker is responsible for the efficient and accurate execution of daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, staging, and moving materials. This role ensures that inventory is properly documented, physical security in the warehouse is monitored, and all activities are carried out in accordance with established procedures and direction from warehouse leadership. Responsibilities Receive incoming shipments by breaking down and unloading materials, verifying that quantities and items match packing list contents, and accurately recording receipts in D365. Report any shipment discrepancies to warehouse supervision or management and complete all required documentation and forms. Label, organize, and store received materials in designated locations as directed, ensuring proper identification and accessibility. Use bar code scanners, docking stations, RF scanners, and other warehouse equipment to document and track material movement and inventory changes. Perform material storage and care activities, including inspections for lay-up maintenance and shelf-life programs to ensure materials remain in good condition. Conduct periodic inventory cycle counts and assist with physical inventory activities as directed to maintain accurate stock levels. Kit and stage materials to support work order requirements, outbound shipments, and transfers to scrap, ensuring correct items and quantities are prepared. Handle and move materials throughout the warehouse using hand trucks, forklifts, vehicles, and other approved means in a safe and efficient manner. Perform shipping and receiving tasks, including packing, packaging, order picking, loading, and preparing materials for dispatch. Maintain clean, organized warehouse spaces by keeping walkways and aisles clear of materials, debris, and refuse, and following housekeeping standards. Accurately complete record keeping and reporting related to material handling, inventory, and warehouse activities. Collaborate with team members and provide strong customer service and interpersonal support to internal stakeholders. Carry out other warehouse duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor or Manager to support overall operations. Essential Skills Minimum 12 years of experience in a related warehouse, material handling, or shipping and receiving role. Proven experience with materials handling, warehouse inventory, warehouse operations, and order picking. Ability to perform shipping and receiving tasks, including packing, packaging, loading, and material handling. Experience using RF scanners, bar code scanners, docking stations, and related warehouse technology for inventory and material tracking. Ability to work flexible hours, including day shift, shift work, and overtime as needed. Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy in receiving, storing, and documenting materials. Strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and stakeholders. Effective record keeping and reporting skills related to inventory and warehouse operations. Good mathematical skills to support counting, inventory reconciliation, and basic calculations. Solid data entry skills for accurate input into systems such as D365 and other warehouse or office platforms. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office platform for documentation, reporting, and communication. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with D365 or similar warehouse management or ERP systems. Background in kitting and staging materials for work orders and shipments. Familiarity with lay-up maintenance and shelf-life programs for stored materials. Ability to operate hand trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently. Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly storage areas and clear aisles and walkways. Comfort working in a fast-paced warehouse environment with changing priorities. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse environment where you will work primarily on a day shift from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility for shift work and overtime as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Mount Vernon, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
