Job Description
Overview The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, loading, unloading, and handling of fish meal, fish oil, packaging materials, and other production-related materials to support daily warehouse and shipping operations. Working under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager, this position ensures materials are received, stored, and distributed accurately to maintain inventory integrity, support production requirements, and meet customer shipping schedules. The Material Handler operates material handling equipment, assists with inventory control activities, prepares customer shipments, receives incoming materials, and maintains clean, organized, and safe warehouse and storage areas. This position is responsible for following established operating procedures, food safety, environmental, health and safety, and regulatory requirements while contributing to efficient warehouse operations and reliable customer service. Duties Safely and efficiently handle receiving, moving, staging, and store fish meal, fish oil packaging materials and supplies throughout the facility. Maintaining and organized storage area. Maintain proper handling practices to minimize product loss, or contamination. Accurately load product into bags, trucks, hoppers, vessels and other shipping containers according to management orders. Verify load details, ensure proper handling and securement of product. Complete required shipping and load documentation accurately and promptly communicate any discrepancies, equipment issues or shipment concerns to the supply chain manager. Operate forklifts, loading equipment, and other material handling equipment safely while following established procedures. Maintain, clean and organized work areas, use proper PPE, follow safety and environmental requirements, and support a safe workplace though hazard awareness and compliance with company policies. Qualifications and Experience High school diploma or GED Strong attention to detail, basic math skills, and the ability to accurately complete required documentation. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, perform physical warehouse duties, and work independently as well as part of a team with dependable attendance. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong physical stamina with the ability to perform heavy lifting consistently; comfortable working on your feet for extended periods. 0-2 years of basic knowledge of warehouse operations, bagging, loading and shipping procedures with the ability to complete required documentation. Ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial environment while following company policies. Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification, experience operating material handling equipment.
