Job Description

This position serves as a Material Handler located within the Warehouse area of the Supply Chain Management Service in the Veterans Affairs Health Care System performing work that involves handling and/or overseeing one or more product lines, a segment of a large warehouse, or may serve as the senior employee in a smaller warehouse or supply facility. This is a full-time position at 40 hours a week.

EXPERIENCE
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards .
Preferred Experience:
1 year of material handler experience.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT

Note :
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements:
Required to drive a truck for several hours to reach the remote location of service. Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, climb and stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, with heavier items being moved with handling equipment or the assistance of other workers. Moves supplies and materials with pallet jacks, forklifts and through physical labor. During travel, considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs. Considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination and concentration.
Working Conditions:
Position will operate motor vehicles in all types of traffic and weather conditions on public roads and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Works both indoors and outdoors, including areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, and / or poorly lighted. Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. Appropriate protective gear will be supplied and shall always be utilized to minimize such risks. Must be able to sit for long periods of time while driving and is exposed to road hazard conditions daily. will apply all established safety practices.
