Ambient Recruiting is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Packer to join a metal manufacturing facility in Grandville. The Packer will play an important role in the Shipping/Receiving department by inspecting, packing, labeling, and preparing products for shipment. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities:
Visually inspect and pack items for shipment. Assemble cardboard containers or select preassembled containers. Insert items into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding. Secure containers using tape and other appropriate materials. Weigh parts to ensure accurate counts. Create and apply labels and shipping instructions to containers. Record weights and shipping information and ensure all information is accurate and matches the order. Operate counting scales and other equipment used in the Boxing/Shipping department. Properly place boxes and totes on skids according to work instructions. Utilize computer systems to complete job, inventory, and shipping transactions. Print and reprint container and Kanban labels as needed. Assist with maintaining accurate WIP and inventory records. Operate a forklift when required and maintain proper forklift safety procedures. Monitor product quality and identify material defects or other issues. Maintain a clean and organized work area according to 5S standards. Assist with training and supporting team members as skills and experience develop. Follow all company policies, procedures, work instructions, and safety practices. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in shipping, packing, inspection, warehouse, or postal operations preferred. Basic computer skills and ability to learn computer-based systems. Ability to read and follow work instructions. Ability to accurately scan, create, and apply labels. Forklift experience or certification is a plus. Must be able to read and write in English. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Reliable and punctual. Ability to bend, twist, reach, stand, and walk throughout the workday. Ability to continuously lift up to 35 lbs. throughout the day. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, odors, and other typical manufacturing conditions. Must wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and hearing protection. Pay:
