Sterling Specialty Pharmacy is part of Astrup Companies, an innovative, growing, family-owned business located in Mendota Heights, MN. This position would be a Monday - Friday position with competitive wages.
Looking for shift availability:
12:30 pm - 9:00pm. Work every 4th weekend. We offer Full health benefits, a 401(k) program with a company match and a Profit Sharing bonus program. Qualifications:
Required Education/Training/Professional Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent G.E.D Knowledge of basic computer functions Ability to work in a manual or automated pharmacy setting Ability to safely operate power material-handling equipment as necessary
Preferred Education/Training/Professional Experience:
Pharmacy experience preferred Previous experience in a warehouse, retail or shipping/receiving environment preferred
Position Summary:
The Shipping & Warehouse Specialist is responsible for performing packing and shipping functions. This position communicates with team members and will be asked to flex with the needs of the pharmacy on a day-to-day basis; become familiar with medications, their shipping specifications; printing shipping labels; preparing prescriptions for packing and shipping; prepping material needed for shipping; daily clean up of work stations and disposal pharmacy waste. This role assures all items are packaged appropriately and are shipped as scheduled.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
None Core Competencies & Responsibilities:
Effectively utilize shipping software Efficiently and accurately prepare patient packages for shipping Inspect each package for correct items, missing items, broken items, and record any problems Performs quality assurance by double-checking all shipping information Ensure all prescriptions are packaged appropriately according to stability guidelines and shipped through the correct vendor and method Quickly and accurately prepare shipping labels. Additionally, able to ensure special shipping requests are accommodated. Maintain a clean and organized work station Ensure all shipping department reports are generated and submitted timely Able to troubleshoot and problem-solve Assure efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods and elimination of wasteful practices within the department Perform the loading and unloading of various stock items Oversee the loading and unloading of commercial and company truck deliveries daily Communicate deficiencies with management and order supplies for warehouse operations as needed Ensure all supplies and shipping materials are organized, prepped and stocked Communicate effectively with other pharmacy staff members Reports errors and incidents to appropriate management Able to effectively train new team members during the onboarding process Participate in quality program initiatives and improvement activities Be self-motivated and multi-task with minimal supervision Maintain a flexible schedule that may include early morning, evening and weekend hours Comply with all regulatory requirements, including
HIPAA/HITECH
Works well in a team setting and able to adapt when needed Other responsibilities as assigned by

Physical Requirements & Work Demands:
Frequent mobility and/or standing required for extended periods of time. Frequent lifting required. Some bending and stooping required. Requires manual dexterity to prep shipping supplies, operate keyboard, printer, and other office equipment.
