Job Description

We are looking for the right person to join our team. Our business needs an experienced Yard Associate who loves helping customers including professional contractors. We're a small business and have operated a lumber yard with a long track record in the community, so many of our customers are repeats who always return to us for building materials. We provide awesome benefits and an energetic, enjoyable work environment. The right candidate will contribute primarily to the lumber yard in a full-time capacity. This position reports into the Yard Operations Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
Greet customers when they walk / drive into the yard. Ask customers what they are looking for and show them several options. Load company vehicles in accordance with delivery invoices to include lifting and carrying merchandise, lumber and building materials. Prepare customer orders to include retrieving merchandise and materials from storage areas in accordance with customer invoices. Operate forklift to load, unload and stock merchandise as needed. Inventory goods and notify management of shortages and needed goods to be ordered. Partner with management to resolve any customer discrepancies to achieve best outcome. Assist in keeping the yard appearance clean, orderly and well-maintained including bins, shelves and check-out areas. Assist with periodic inventory counts. Provide feedback to management on scanning errors, inventory losses and other issues that could impact a customer's experience. Adhere to all approved company policies and procedures. Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
Prior lumber yard experience helpful. Prior building materials experience helpful. High school diploma/GED required. Working hours are Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 7:30 am to 5 pm two times a month (with a day off during the week). This position is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k) with a company match and paid vacation time and holidays.
