Job Description

Hamilton Building Supply is seeking a candidate for a Driver/Loader position to support its lumber and building materials operation throughout NJ and Eastern PA. The Driver/Loader is responsible for safely loading, unloading, staging, handling, and delivering lumber and building materials in 18' -26' box trucks while providing excellent customer service to customers and supporting daily yard and delivery operations. This is a physical, hands-on role that requires regular hand lifting, moving materials, working outdoors, and assisting with loading and unloading throughout the day. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, great attitude, and excellent customer service. HBS is financially strong, and family owned. Pay is commensurate with experience. Daily Responsibilities of the
Driver/Loader:
Safely load, unload, stage, and move lumber, building materials, windows, doors and related products by hand and equipment. Prepare customer orders for delivery or pickup by verifying materials, quantities and condition before loading. Deliver materials to customer locations as assigned using 18'-26' box trucks, small vans, pickup trucks, following safe driving practices and company procedures. Operate forklifts and other yard equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures. Support yard and warehouse organization by returning materials to proper locations and keeping work areas clean and safe. Properly track and document activity log. Using DDMS tablet in accordance with delivery guidelines, including capture recipient signature and taking photos of delivery. Inspect truck before and after trip and complete a DVIR. Work independently and report to the Fleet Supervisor any issues. Qualifications of the
Driver/Loader:
Possess a valid driver's license with a cleaning driving record. Obtain a physical (company paid) performed by MRO of HBS's choice and maintain a valid MEC (DOT) card indicating physically qualified to drive. Receive a negative drug screen in compliance with Part 390- FMCSRA specifically as it relates to Section 392.4 - Drugs & Other substances. Physical Requirements of the Driver/Loader This is a physical, hands-on role that requires regular movement throughout the yard, warehouse, delivery area, and customer job sites. Must be able to regularly hand lift, carry, push, pull and move lumber and building materials throughout the workday including materials up to 50 pounds and up to 150 pounds with assistance. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb in and out of delivery vehicles, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must be able to work around trucks, forklifts, loaders, and other heavy equipment in an active yard and delivery environment.
