Job Summary:

The Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the manufacturing facility. This position supports production operations by ensuring materials are available when needed, maintaining inventory accuracy, and adhering to all safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements. This position works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Transport raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment. Supply production lines with required materials to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations. Remove finished products and waste materials from production areas. Receive incoming materials and verify quantities against packing slips and purchase orders. Stage and prepare products for shipment according to customer and company requirements. Perform inventory transactions and maintain accurate inventory records. Ensure proper labeling, identification, storage, and segregation of materials. Inspect materials and pallets for damage and report discrepancies or quality concerns. Maintain organized warehouse and storage areas. Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices when applicable. Adhere to all company safety procedures, GMP requirements, food safety standards, and quality policies. Assist with housekeeping activities to maintain a clean and safe work environment. Communicate material shortages, inventory issues, or operational concerns to supervisors. Conduct routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventories. Support continuous improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of all warehouse operations for future reference and compliance. Ensure the quality of product by following area procedures and filling out appropriate documentation records. Ensure the safety and legality of product by being aware of and complying with food safety policy. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous warehouse, manufacturing, shipping/receiving, or material handling experience preferred. Ability to safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment or willingness to obtain certification. Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory management systems. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Dependable attendance and strong work ethic. Physical Requirements Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment. Work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and production activity. Basic mathematical skills for counts and inventory transactions.
