Job Title:
Warehouse Selector Job Description This role supports a busy distribution center by accurately picking, packing, and loading customer orders onto delivery trucks using a variety of material handling equipment. You will work on a small, collaborative team, ensuring products are handled safely, inventory is accurate, and orders are prepared on time while following all safety and operational procedures. Responsibilities Read customer orders, work orders, or shipping orders to determine items that need to be picked and loaded for customers. Assemble customer orders from stock and place them on pallets in the correct sequence for loading onto delivery trucks, using scanners and related technology. Load products onto trucks in a predetermined order to support efficient delivery and unloading. Inspect products during picking and loading to ensure they are not damaged and are positioned to allow easy sorting and selection upon delivery. Perform equipment inspections at the beginning of every shift and accurately complete required log sheets. Operate order pickers, pallet jacks, dollies, hand trucks, and related equipment to move, stage, and load materials safely. Use RF scanners to locate, verify, and track inventory and orders. Assist with unloading incoming materials and organizing inventory in the distribution center. Clean and organize the distribution center and ensure all necessary equipment is plugged into charging stations at the end of every shift. Follow OSHA and company safety standards at all times and promptly report any safety concerns or violations to your supervisor. Maintain required productivity and accuracy levels while meeting stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Perform general labor and material handling tasks as needed to support overall warehouse operations. Carry out other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the distribution center. Essential Skills Experience with warehouse loading, unloading, and general labor in a distribution or similar environment. Proficiency in order picking and packing customer orders accurately and efficiently. Ability to use RF scanners and related technology to locate, verify, and track inventory and orders. Hands-on experience operating pallet jacks, including electric pallet jacks, for material handling. Experience with sit-down forklifts and other powered industrial trucks, or the ability to learn these quickly in a warehouse setting. Capability to handle repetitive, physically demanding work, including frequent lifting and moving of 50 pounds or more. Ability to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands to handle, feel, sort, and load products throughout the shift. Willingness and ability to work second shift hours with varying end times. Comfort working in a secured distribution center environment with moderate to high noise levels. Willingness to complete and pass required drug and background checks, with waivers in place as applicable. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using stock pickers, high lifts, order pickers, two-wheelers, wrapping machines, dollies, and carts in a warehouse or distribution center. background in packaging and material handling, including wrapping and securing loads on pallets. Familiarity with OSHA and general warehouse safety standards and procedures. Ability to maintain focus and accuracy while meeting productivity expectations and tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail when reading orders, inspecting products, and completing equipment logs. Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors in a fast-paced environment. Capability to perform occasional tasks such as sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as needed. Ability to read a computer monitor, write for short periods, and sort and file documents when required. The role involves repetitive and physically demanding tasks, including regularly standing, walking, reaching, and using hands to handle, sort, and load products. You will frequently lift and move items weighing 50 pounds or more and may occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The position requires the use of various equipment such as stock pickers, pallet jacks (including electric pallet jacks), two-wheelers, wrapping machines, dollies, carts, high lifts, order pickers, and sit-down forklifts. You will use RF scanners and computer-based tools to manage orders and inventory. Work is performed primarily on second shift with varying end times, and team sizes typically range from 5 to 10 people, creating a collaborative and supportive environment where employees are expected to maintain both productivity and accuracy. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cheektowaga, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
