Job Title:
Material Handler -
Sheet Metal Factory Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient and safe movement, storage, and staging of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished sheet metal products within the factory. This role ensures timely delivery of materials to various production areas to support continuous manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Load, unload, and move sheet metal materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material handling equipment. Stage materials for machine operators and fabricators based on daily production schedules. Transport finished parts to designated storage or shipping areas. Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and report shortages to supervisors. Label, tag, or mark materials with part numbers and job order details. Ensure proper storage and organization of sheet metal components to prevent damage. Assist with receiving deliveries, verifying materials against packing slips or purchase orders. Maintain clean and organized work areas, material racks, and storage spaces. Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of PPE and proper lifting techniques. Communicate with production, logistics, and warehouse teams to coordinate material flow.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or sheet metal environment preferred. Forklift certification (or ability to obtain). Ability to read job travelers, part labels, and basic blueprints a plus. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Physical stamina to lift/move materials up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
Working Conditions:
Factory environment with exposure to noise, metal dust, and sharp materials. Requires PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe boots. Shift work may be required (day/night/weekend).
