Job Description
•This position will remain open until a candidate is selected• The Solid Waste division is responsible for managing the Nash County Landfill and the Solid Waste Convenience Centers. Enforcement of Nash County's Solid Waste Ordinance is the responsibility of this division. The Landfill provides a disposal area for Construction & Demolition waste materials generated in Nash County. The Convenience Centers provide solid waste and recycling collection for household waste. The Scale House Attendant operates scale weighing system, records and collects proper data, collects associated revenue and reports. Responds to customer inquiries regarding waste disposal. The work schedule for this position is between 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be necessary during such times as demand for services may be higher due to events such as hurricanes, ice storms, and others where excess waste is created. Operates Weigh Scales for C&D Landfill in order to generate charge/cash transaction for waste brought into the Landfill Serves as primary contact for citizens who conduct business in person at the Landfill or over the phone Assists Solid Waste Manager in coordinating daily operation of Landfill and nine Convenience Center sites Assists Solid Waste Manager in maintaining accurate documentation of working hours for Attendants, including Alternates, assigned to each Convenience Center site Generates monthly customer account statements and ensures the accuracy of all transactions, both charges and payments, for each Landfill account Responsible for receipt and security of all cash and credit card transactions at the Landfill Generates a cash deposit report and makes a bank deposit daily. Copies of such deposits are made available to County Finance and Health Department Administration Assists Landfill customers in resolving issues related to charges and payments to accounts Assists Solid Waste Manager in generating reports, letters and memos related to activities within the Solid Waste division Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Communication skills to convey information effectively
