Job Description

WASTEWATER MAINTENANCE PERSON DESCRIPTION
: For a complete job description and minimum requirements please visit: https://niagaracounty.com/Employment/Job_Specs_for_Civil_Service_Positions.php An employee in this class performs maintenance and repair work in the efficient accomplishment of semi-skilled plumbing work at a wastewater treatment plant, tributary pump station and/or on the municipal wastewater distribution system. Some clerical functions may be performed in addition to building and grounds maintenance work on municipal facilities. The work is performed under general supervision. This class if distinguished from that of Wastewater Maintenance Person II by the lack of supervisory responsibilities, type of equipment to be maintained, and the size and organizational structure of the municipality. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Graduation from high school or possession of a New York State equivalency diploma and one of the following: 1. One (1) year of paid experience in the maintenance of wastewater treatment plant or related equipment• or the construction, maintenance or service phases of a distribution system; OR 2. One (1) year of related specialized formal education beyond the required level.
NOTE:
Related equipment shall include but not be limited to diesel, electric or gasoline driven equipment; chain, gear, belt, or direct drive mixer, conveyors, collectors, grinders, pumps, compressors, blowers, generators, boilers, structural repair equipment, welders, sprayers, sanders etc.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
: Possession of a valid New York State Driver's License at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

$22.29 - $25.64 per hour
