Position Information Title Recycling Collector

Position Description Position Information:

BSU's Waste Management department is responsible for the universities recycling program. This includes managing recyclable material, ensuring they are collected, processed and potentially reused in new products. They also play a role in educating the campus about recycling practices and promoting waste reduction efforts.

Position Information:

Recycling Collectors are responsible for emptying desk bins in offices on campus. Desk bins contain only paper that can be recycled. The bins are emptied into bags that we supply and brought to Otto's ( large bins for paper , cardboard or plastic) located within each building. The Recycling Collectors will pick up paper recycling from offices during regular office hours , typically 9am to 4pm. Material collectors do not collect in classrooms or conference rooms. The position requires traveling building to building and using the stairs as needed.

Eligibility requirements:
  • Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with recycling, custodial, groundskeeping, or similar physical work.
  • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
  • Dependable and punctual with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull recycling materials and collection containers.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and traveling between campus buildings in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and provide courteous service to the campus community. Physical Demands Ability to travel across campus from building to building, including using stairs, in a variety of weather conditions.

Ability to lift and transport recycling materials.
