Job Description
This position is responsible for the collection of solid waste.
- Accompanies a solid waste collection truck along an assigned route.
- Moves and positions cans and dumpsters.
- Identifies hazardous wastes and other items not suitable for transport.
- Collects grass clippings and other yard waste.
- Washes trucks.
- Collects litter from rights-of-way.
- Paints and repairs dumpsters.
- Performs related duties.
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent
- No experience requirements.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. City of Bismarck does not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
- Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials identification principles.
- Skill in lifting and positioning cans.
- Skill in the use of hand and yard tools.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
