Exciting Opportunity to work as a Scale Operator at a Columbia area steel recycling center. This position will be responsible for coordinating truck weigh-ins as they enter the mill yard, administering and documenting weights as well as communicating and directing drivers to appropriate areas. Previous scale operation experience is helpful, however not required. Experience within the transportation industry is helpful.

Job Duties:

Inspect loads and query drivers. Enter load information, customer/truck information into computer and operate computerized truck scale. Instruct drivers to the appropriate unloading areas. Process payments/charges to be assigned to each load. Maintains weight tickets for all loads, accurately perform routine data entry and make basic mathematical calculations and keep accurate records.

Qualifications:

HS Diploma or GED plus 2 years warehouse or logistics.

Administrative abilities:

Must be able to perform basic computer operations and other equipment such as printers, scanners. Customer Service experience is helpful. This position will assist in the yard approximately 10% of the time and requires some heavy lifting and able to operate a forklift. Previous experience as a scale operator or experience within the transportation industry is helpful. Must possess a valid drivers license. Must pass background investigation and drug screening.
