The purpose of this position is to operate large landfill and mining equipment to construct new cells, bury and compact trash, and to apply daily, intermediate and final covers. This is accomplished by operating heavy landfill and mining equipment, ensuring equipment and materials are sufficient, and repairing and maintaining equipment. Employees of this class will be required to know and comply with the Landfill Operating Permit. Other duties include assisting other departments with miscellaneous projects and special events.LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
This position is considered Mission Essential and will be expected to report to work during inclement weather. Texas Commission Environmental Quality (TCEQ) certification as an MSW-A landfill operator desired but not required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Exerting over 100 lbs. occasionally; 50-100 lbs. frequently; or up to 20-50 lbs. constantly. # Code Essential Functions 1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice 2 H Operates heavy landfill and mining equipment to construct and maintain landfill cells, bury municipal solid waste and apply daily, intermediate and final covers. Performs work necessary to manage the compost site, build windrows, grind feedstock, turn material and monitor compost parameters. Operates landfill equipment as necessary during storm events and responds to disasters. 3 H Completes field operations in compliance with the Landfill Site Operating Plan and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Reviews results of required tests to ensure compliance with the compost permit, the storm water permit and the air permit. Maintains the landfill roads, working face and final slopes. Cleans up debris and trash as required 4 H Maintains the safe and efficient operation of equipment by completing regular maintenance, reporting equipment failures, and repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts. 5 H Maintains and inspects trucks and equipment by reviewing condition prior to beginning routes, completing inspection reports, notifying supervision, re-inspection at the end of the route, cleaning, sanitizing, and reporting malfunctions and items needing repair.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
