Overview Join our dynamic team as a Wastewater Collections Operator and become a vital part of maintaining the health and safety of our community's water infrastructure. In this energetic role, you will operate and maintain wastewater collection systems, ensuring the efficient and reliable transport of wastewater from residential, commercial, and industrial sources to treatment facilities. Duties

• Operates at least two of the following items of construction equipment: loader, backhoe, dual transmission truck, dump truck, trailer, extend-a-jet, C.C.T.V. analysis truck, combination jet rod vacuum truck, portable pumps, welders, programmable flow meter, sampler, and miscellaneous power hand tools.
• May be assigned to operate various pieces of equipment, and to perform minor maintenance on equipment assigned.
• Operates equipment for projects such as excavating trenches and sewer lines, backfilling holes and trenches, hauling, and clearing plugged sewer lines and storm drains, etc.
• May assist in the loading and unloading of trucks, laying pipe in trenches, using air jack hammers to break out concrete and asphalt, or other types of general physical labor.
• May be required to program flow meters and samplers and to operate laptop computer for collecting data.
• Performs routine maintenance or emergency repairs as assigned.
• Assists with installing and removing equipment, repairing broken parts, and performing preventive maintenance. Makes minor repairs and may complete work orders independently as assigned requiring some mechanical and electrical skills.
• Operates equipment and hand and power tools. Performs preparation and cleanup tasks.
• Uses heavy equipment, including trucks and loaders. Transports materials from the plant to injection site, and transports bio-solids to the county landfill.
• Operates wastewater treatment plant equipment, including pump motors, valves, and mixers according to standard operating procedures and under supervision. Observes control panels, takes readings, and records data. Performs routine plant sampling.
• Performs other related duties as required. Skills & Abilities Quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by becoming certified as a Wastewater Collection Operator.
• Utilize current principles and practices involved in wastewater collection.
• Learn operational characteristics of wastewater and storm drain collection systems.
• Learn tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of wastewater and storm drain systems.
• Detect or learn to detect needed repairs, and to make necessary simple adjustments to equipment.
• Operate or learn to operate a variety of heavy equipment, trucks, and other related equipment used in wastewater collection.
• Apply or learn to apply rules of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) construction standards, including trenching and confined space safety.
• Communicate well with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language.
• Understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions.

Pay:

$20.00 - $26.00 per hour
