Job Description

Job Overview:
•The Village of Elmwood is seeking a full-time Public Works Employee. This skilled position performs a variety of maintenance and repair work involving Village facilities, infrastructure, properties, and projects, including streets, stormwater systems, municipal water and sewer systems, parks, equipment, and other Village property. Previous construction, agricultural, mechanical, or maintenance experience is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. They should also have a desire to serve the community while demonstrating pride and professionalism in their daily work. The successful candidate must be willing and able to obtain all required water and wastewater certifications within the timeframe established by the Village. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants must have: A high school diploma or equivalent A valid Wisconsin driver's license and a good driving record A CDL or the ability to obtain one The ability to operate, or learn to operate, heavy and light equipment Mechanical aptitude and basic problem-solving skills The ability to work effectively as part of a team The ability to meet the physical demands of the position Availability to work rotating weekends, overtime, and respond outside regular working hours when necessary A construction, agricultural, mechanical, or maintenance background is a plus. Benefits and Schedule Employer-funded benefits Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) Day shift Monday through Friday Paid holidays On-call availability as needed Overtime as needed Required every-other-weekend duties The starting wage is $22.00-$26.00 per hour , depending on qualifications, certifications, and experience.
