Facility Assistants, Participant Assistants/Aides, Volunteer instructors We are currently accepting Volunteers Youth Sports Coaches at the La Mirada Gymnasium. Complete the online application in its entirety for your application to be considered. Volunteer Youth Sports Coaches work alongside our Community Services staff to create a positive experience that influences players, parents, and coaches to be ambassadors of sportsmanship. Our purpose is to foster an environment where teamwork, integrity, respect, fairness, and inclusiveness thrive.Responsibilities include:
Coaching youth in basketball, volleyball, futsal, or flag football. Leading practices and games in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment. Teaching fundamental skills and promoting teamwork. Modeling sportsmanship to inspire players, parents, and coaches. Must have excellent communication and leadership skills to ensure a rewarding experience for young athletes while upholding our mission to promote sportsmanship through quality sports leagues. Supplemental Information The City of La Mirada does not participate in court-ordered or mandated community service hours. Any volunteer hours earned through the City's Volunteers-In-Action program cannot be used towards these types of programs. Accepted volunteers will be scheduled to be fingerprinted and must pass a background check prior to being assigned. One must possess a combination of a valid form of photo identification (such as: California Driver's License, government issued ID, or a US Passport) and social security card to go through the fingerprinting process. Volunteers who pass the background check will be invited to attend an orientation before beginning their volunteer service. The City has the discretion and authority to begin and end volunteer hours as appropriate to City operations.Benefits
