Job Description

Job Title:

Lab AssociateJob Description We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Associate to join our dynamic team in providing critical lab support. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the centralized service team responsible for the pickup, processing, and delivery of laboratory glassware. This role is crucial in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization within the lab environment. Responsibilities

+ Pick up and deliver glassware, including biologically contaminated reusable glassware and plastic ware.

+ Follow established procedures for handling and transporting glassware and contaminated items.

+ Perform specialist cleaning tasks such as autoclaving, ultrasonic cleaning, and pipette processing.

+ Operate autoclaves, glassware washers, dry heat sterilizers, ultrasonic baths, and incubators.

+ Maintain temperature chart recorders and equipment forms using proper documentation.

+ Inspect glassware for cleanliness and structural defects.

+ Monitor inventory of glassware and notify Lead of any deficiencies.

+ Maintain housekeeping of glassware processing areas and follow all procedures for glassware processing.

+ Perform monthly de-scale and biological indicator checks.

+ Use Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for all paperwork.

+ Observe all safety precautions and proactively raise safety concerns.

+ Complete all required training in a timely manner.

+ Work closely with other teams to provide seamless lab support and cross-train in other lab support areas as needed. Essential Skills

+ High School Diploma or GED.

+ Ability to follow oral and written directions.

+ Demonstrated appropriate use of relevant equipment after training.

+ Reliability and attention to detail in inspecting glassware for cleanliness and structural defects. Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Previous glass wash experience preferred.

+ Proficiency in Excel.

+ Research experience is advantageous.

+ College graduate or current student acceptable if able to meet schedule and commit.

+ Team player with an openness to learning. Work Environment The position requires working 100% onsite at Campus Point Drive, San Diego. The standard work schedule is 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with flexibility for a 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. shift. Overtime is possible with pre-approval. The work pace may be fast, and job completion demands may be high. The environment requires personal protective equipment due to biohazards such as bloodborne pathogens and laboratory equipment. Physical demands include standing or sitting for 2-3 hours, walking within the facility and between buildings, reaching, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs, and keyboard work for up to 4 hours. The candidate must comply with safety, security, and environmental procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
