To monitor students on the school campus and to help regulate their behavior in conjunction with the expectations contained within the "Student Handbook". Involves patrolling school campus to observe suspicious activities, monitor public movement, and safeguard against crimes that may be committed against staff, students, and/or property.Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent Valid New Mexico driver's license Must have computer skills and able to use peripheral equipment and knowledge of software applications; Ability to learn relevant regulations, policies, practices, and procedures; Ability to work independently; Ability to develop an effective working relationship with staff, volunteers, vendors, and the community; Effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to speak persuasively to individuals or groups; Ability to deliver good customer service skills; Ability to determine when to intervene in physical confrontations, defuse confrontations, and knowledge of when report/de-escalate; Ability to judge when to act independently and when to refer situation to supervisor; Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods;Essential Duties:
Patrols entire school campus (building and grounds) to identify and correct student behavior inconsistent with school policy; Use interpersonal skills in proactive manner to help students make appropriate decisions such as being in the designed class on time, and being in the approved place on campus; Investigates suspicious persons, activities, and conditions; reports unusual or dangerous conditions and situations; Provides general assistance and support to school administration staff, performing assignments as requested; Conducts investigations and inquiries into behavior problems; Assists with crowd control and traffic at school events/activities; Keep accurate and complete records and reports as required; execute disciplinary reports when appropriate, and testifies to circumstances when needed; Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, the community, and others; Attends and participates in meetings relative to job; May administer CPR, first aide, and contact emergency 911; Greets visitors, ascertains nature of business, and conducts visitors to employer or appropriate person; Maintains confidentiality; Responds to court subpoenas and inquiries regarding student matters; Responsible for awareness of local, state and federal rules and regulations to include Board Policy, etc.; May perform duties as required for the organization's success and will occasionally perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
