SPECIAL PROJECT CONSTRUCTION COORDINATOR
We are looking for the right person who likes travel to perform hands on carpentry and manage subcontractors during the renovations for our seniors housing organization. We specialize in assisted living and memory care. Highgate Senior Living's mission is to devote ourselves to help each resident live a life of purpose and each of us plays a crucial role in doing so. We operate communities in the western US and are seeking the right construction coordinator to join us in creating environments that promote a sense of well-being and the feeling of true community in a gracious, homelike setting. This position is full-time and includes coordination/planning/ hands on carpentry of both small and large renovation projects and traveling to our various locations to oversee and complete these projects. The successful candidate will be an organized and detail-oriented individual with a positive and self-motivated attitude. You must have strong communication and computer skills. Problem solving and the ability to oversee and assist in all aspects of the renovation process is essential. Excellent time management skills are important along with relationship building, persistence, flexibility, and adaptability. This position supervises and assists the activities of the trades for all Highgate Senior Living communities' special projects. Position reports to the Vice President of Construction.
SKILLS NEEDED
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to review entire project and provide budgetary information and scheduling the proper sequence of work to minimize impact to our occupied communities.
  • Ability to communicate well with various trades such as mechanical & electrical
  • Ability to track, receive and record/report shipments of goods for multiple projects
  • Select and evaluate materials for defects
  • Oversee and assist the install of cabinets, counters, plumbing & electrical fixtures as required
  • Must have the experience to self perform the work as necessary.
  • Follow all code requirements in all projects
  • Capable of climbing on ladders and carrying at least 80 pounds
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong negotiation skills
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
  • Team player with ability to develop strong working relationships along with customer service focus
  • Ability to adapt/respond quickly to changing requirements and effectively balance priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to read architectural/construction/design layout drawings
RELATABLE EXPERIENCE
  • Any combination of education and experience in a related construction role that provides the required knowledge, skills & abilities may be accepted.
  • Experience with plumbing and electrical systems required
  • Experience with rough & finish carpentry required
  • Excellent facility with common hand and power tools required
  • Familiarity with apartment unit layouts and infrastructures required
  • Experience with common building materials such as lumber grades and countertop materials, etc. required
  • Experience Assisted Living / Healthcare Facilities is a bonus but not required.
Willingness to learn how to work in the assisted living/healthcare environment required.
QUALIFICATIONS 1
  • At least 21 years of age 2
  • At least five (5) years' experience in construction related field 3
  • Current negative TB test 4
  • Ability to pass criminal record/background check 5
  • Valid driver's license with a qualifying driver abstract 6
  • Be efficient and exercise good time management skills 7
  • Must be able to work well independently with little oversight 8
