Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED completion is required A minimum of one year experience is preferred CMA, CCMA or RMA is required CPR or the equivalent is required Proficient in medical terminology

Essential Job Duties:
Assist in the function of a proper "time out," introduction of staff, patient identifiers, ensuring that all consents are signed, dated and timed, all equipment and supplies are stocked and ready for use, the correct order and diagnosis are in the computer, allergies have been verified, metal placement in the body has been confirmed, and that patient has been allowed to ask questions Work as a scribe for proper documentation of endoscopic procedures Proper use and operation of assistive endoscopy equipment, including but not limited to biopsy forceps, snare, submucosal injection needle (CMA only), dilators (Savary and balloon), esophageal bander, and cytology brush Proper use, operation, and cleaning of all endoscopy equipment including but not limited to endoscopes, processor, light source, and other equipment associated with the endoscopy tower, endoscope washer, autoclave, leak tester, procedural and washroom flush pumps, etc. Handle chemicals used in the procedure room and washroom setting Set up and clean procedure rooms and equipment between patient visits Document in the patients EMR for orders, procedures, and entry of pathology specimens Assist the physician with specimen collection Label and document specimen collection, including documenting in the log Restock supplies and linen as needed Notify RN Supervisor when equipment needs repair and take them out of service per protocol Notify Purchasing Specialist when supplies need to be ordered
Working Conditions:
Varied activities include but are not limited to, walking, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye coordination Ability to use an array of office equipment including, but not limited to a computer, copier, multi-line telephone, etc May on occasion require light lifting of no greater than 50 pounds intermittently Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours at times May have exposure to patients with infectious diseases May be exposed to, but not limited to, formalin, glutaraldehyde, OPA, rapicide parts A and B, and enzymatic solution Requires the ability to work near odorous chemicals such as formalin, reagents, stains and cleaning solutions Chemicals and specimens may be biohazardous May be subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity Primarily unaccompanied in a laboratory setting
