Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant COTA

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in assisting patients across diverse settings, including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and assisted living environments. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting patients in achieving their functional goals through personalized therapy interventions. The COTA will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to implement care plans that promote independence and improve quality of life for individuals of all ages. Duties Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to patient needs. Support patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as dressing, grooming, and mobility, to foster independence. Provide therapy interventions in various settings, including acute care hospitals, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health visits. Monitor patient progress and document responses to therapy activities accurately and timely. Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises and strategies to maintain progress outside clinical settings. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal recovery outcomes. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment in accordance with healthcare regulations and facility policies. Contribute to the development of care plans by providing insights on patient capabilities and progress based on physiology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology understanding. Experience Prior experience working as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in inpatient or outpatient settings is highly preferred. Demonstrated experience assisting with ADLs and implementing therapy interventions for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals in acute or skilled nursing facilities. Knowledge of medical imaging reports, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practice. Experience working within home health environments or outpatient clinics is advantageous. Familiarity with care planning processes and documentation standards for occupational health programs. Skilled nursing facility experience that emphasizes patient care across various stages of recovery or chronic conditions is desirable. Strong understanding of the roles of occupational therapy within inpatient settings and outpatient clinics to support seamless patient transitions.
