Part-Time (Approximately 20 hours/week)Salary:
$20,800Position Overview:
Shiloh Methodist Church is seeking a passionate and committed Youth Director to lead, mentor, and guide our youth group, ages 12-18. The Youth Director will work closely with youth, families, volunteers, and church staff to foster spiritual growth and build community within the youth ministry program. This individual should demonstrate a strong foundation in Christian values, have a heart for youth ministry, and be able to engage young people in their spiritual journey.Key Responsibilities:
Youth Sunday School:
Support the Sunday School class teacher for the youth and fill in when needed. Able to lead a Sunday school class if the number of youth grows that would require another class. (10am-11am)Worship Service:
Attend Worship Service each week and be able to assist in the service as needed from 11am-12pm. Help with the start of a praise and worship service in 2026 and attend that service in addition to the 11am service.Youth Ministry Programming:
Lead and organize youth lessons on Sunday evenings (5:30 - 7:30 pm), ensuring dynamic and spiritually enriching content. Organize and oversee special youth activities at least once a quarterSpiritual Growth & Mentorship:
Serve as a spiritual mentor, guide, and teacher for the youth, fostering an environment where youth can explore and grow in their faith individually and as a group.Collaboration & Coordination:
Work collaboratively with the Children's Director for joint activities that engage both children and youth. Collaborate with church leaders and volunteers to plan and execute events and activities. Work with the Pastor and SPRC liaison to coordinate weekly and special events.Ministry Safe:
Schedule and oversee Ministry Safe trained adults for Sunday school and Sunday evening youth activities to ensure a safe environment.Parental Engagement:
Maintain open and positive communication with parents and guardians to keep them informed and involved in the youth ministry.Budget Oversight:
Manage the youth ministry budget, ensuring resources are allocated responsibly for activities, events, and programming.Community Outreach & Social Media:
Lead the youth in participating in community outreach events and encourage their involvement in church and local community service projects. Utilize social media platforms to communicate and connect with youth and parents. Create and help maintain a social media presence for the church that informs and invites allRetreats & Mission Trips:
Organize and lead mission trips, retreats, and other special activities designed to nurture the spiritual development of the youth.Pastor support:
Support the pastor's ministry by helping with tasks that will assist him the nurturing and the growth of the church.Qualifications:
Christian Values:
Demonstrate Christian values, both in professional and private life, and a commitment to growing in personal faith.Scriptural Knowledge:
Have a solid understanding of scripture and its application to life and youth ministry.Educational Background:
Preferably pursuing or holding a degree in Christian education, theology, or a related field. Other related qualifications will be considered.Youth Engagement:
Experience or ability to work with youth ages 12-18, understanding their unique challenges, needs, and growth stages.Communication Skills:
Ability to connect effectively with youth, parents, and volunteers through various communication methods, including social media.Leadership & Organization:
Ability to plan, organize, lead, and provide guidance for both long-term projects and spontaneous activities related to youth ministry.Listening & Counseling:
Competence in listening to youth and providing basic guidance or counseling as needed.Team Collaboration:
Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members, volunteers, and community partners.Positive Attitude & Initiative:
Maintain a positive, energetic, and proactive approach in all aspects of the position.Administrative Skills:
Strong organizational and administrative skills, including event planning and budget management.Preferred Qualifications:
Theological Education:
Academic training in theology, biblical studies, or related fields.Youth Ministry Experience:
Previous experience leading or working in youth ministry, or in a mentoring/counseling capacity.Technology Skills:
Competence in using computers, social media, and communication tools to engage youth and families.First Aid/CPR Training:
Certification in CPR and other safety training, or willingness to acquire certification.Background Check:
Completion of a background check to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the youth. How toApply:
