Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled City Attorney to serve as the chief legal advisor and representative for the city municipal government. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all legal matters affecting the city, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and providing expert guidance in municipal matters. Your leadership will help shape policies, defend the city's interests, and promote effective governance. The ideal candidate is an energetic professional with extensive legal expertise, exceptional negotiation skills, and a passion for public service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to impact community development while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Duties Provide comprehensive legal counsel to city officials, departments, and boards. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and other legal documents to protect the city's interests. Lead litigation efforts involving matters affecting municipal operations. Oversee legal administrative functions within the law office, including managing case files and maintaining accurate records of legal proceedings. Experience Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active license to practice law in the jurisdiction. Proven experience in municipal or government law preferred but not required. Experience managing a law office environment with strong organizational skills. Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
