Classroom Assistant

The Village Nursery School Position Available Teacher (part time position 5-10 hours per week, beginning in the 2026-20267 academic year): Under the general supervision of the Board of Directors, School Director and Head Teacher, the floating assistant teacher will assist in the implementation of the curriculum across 3's class, 4'and PK class, flowing between the 2 as necessary for coverage. The Floating Assistant will accompany PK class for outside play and on library visit days. The Village Nursery School (VNS) is a non-profit, state licensed nursery school in Farmington, CT that provides a quality preschool education in a nurturing environment. VNS was established in 1957 as the "The Village Cooperative Nursery School" by a group of parents to provide the community with a preschool for children aged three- to five -years-old, regardless of race, creed, color or gender. For more than 60 years we have been proud to offer early childhood education in Farmington. Responsibilities  Assist in daily lessons prepared by teachers  Assist teachers monitoring outside play  Help to prep materials and lesson supplements  Help clean the classroom and organize supplies  Work directly with students to support their learning  Support teacher with daily routines and lessons  Obtain and maintain the following certifications are required by

State of CT:

First Aid, CPR/AED, EpiPen and Medication certifications  Maintain CT OEC professional registry including background check  Assist children in bathroom as needed  Other duties as determined by Board of Directors  Availability to serve as substitute teacher when needed Preferred Qualifications  Bachelor's Degree  Experience working with young children  Ability to care for, nurture and work with children  Meeting physical and emotional needs of children  Strong communication and interpersonal skills  Organizational skills and attention to detail  Must pass verification and background check
