This role is about more than simply filling a position on our leadership team. We are seeking an engaged, relational leader who will support our culture of connection, psychological safety, and collaboration, and demonstrate their investment to responsive clinical care. Within this role, the Clinical Director will help our clinicians do their best work through curiosity, humility, and strengths-based learning. Our Clinical Director will work closely with the CEO to guide clinical quality, develop and support a healthy clinic team, promote thoughtful growth across programs, and implement strategic priorities. The Clinical Director will oversee daily clinical operations while maintaining a small active clinical caseload. This role is responsible for staff supervision, performance management, compliance oversight, and operational execution to ensure high‑quality mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services across the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Operations Oversee and support day‑to‑day clinical operations for a multidisciplinary clinic of approximately 28 staff. Conduct regularly scheduled management and team meetings to communicate priorities, review performance, address challenges, and support staff development. Maintain an active clinical caseload of clients delivering direct mental health services consistent with licensure and best practices. Serve as a clinical resource to staff, providing guidance on treatment planning, ethical issues, documentation, and complex cases. Model and reinforce leadership behaviors that reflect empathy, accountability, transparency, and respect across all levels of staff. Collaborate with leadership to develop and maintain retention strategies, including onboarding support, professional development pathways, and recognition of staff contributions. Partner closely with the CEO on operational planning, risk management, and organizational priorities. Promote a positive, accountable, and mission‑aligned workplace culture. Support continuous quality improvement initiatives across the clinic. Clinical Services Deliver mental health individual therapy to 13 clients a week consistent with licensure and best practices. Supervision & Performance Management Directly supervise 6-8 managees and trainees, including licensed clinicians and/or clinical trainees. Provide individual clinical supervision in accordance with licensing and training requirements. Facilitate weekly staffing with multidisciplinary clinical staff. Guide leadership team These roles include working with managees or supervisees on goal setting, professional development, performance metric reviews, and corrective action when needed. Meet with leadership weekly or bi-weekly to support their development. Support the coordination of staff trainings. Support staff professional growth through coaching, training recommendations, development planning, and management training. Performance Metrics & Reporting Develop, track, and analyze key clinical and operational performance metrics, including productivity, caseload management, documentation timeliness, and quality indicators. Prepare and present routine performance reports to the CEO, highlighting trends, risks, and improvement opportunities. Use data‑driven insights to recommend workflow, staffing, or process improvements. Hiring, Staffing, and Clinic Culture Lead recruitment, interviewing, and hiring processes for open licensed clinical roles. Support Administrative Leadership in interviewing and hiring open administrative positions. Collaborate with leadership to assess staffing needs, onboarding plans, and role alignment. Oversee onboarding and staff orientation. Actively cultivate and sustain a clinic culture grounded in warmth, professionalism, psychological safety, and client‑centered care that supports staff retention and high‑quality clinical outcomes. Foster a culture of continuous learning, feedback, and professional growth that encourages staff engagement, confidence, and clinical excellence. Procedure Flow and Efficiency Evaluate, modify, and implement clinical and operational workflows across mental health and substance use disorder services to improve efficiency, quality of care, and staff effectiveness. Assess end‑to‑end clinical processes (intake, assessment, treatment planning, documentation, discharge, and coordination of care) to identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with clinical leadership and administrative teams to ensure SUD and MH procedures are standardized, clearly documented, up‑to‑date, and consistently implemented across teams. Lead change management efforts alongside other managers related to workflow improvements, including staff communication, training, and follow‑up support. Compliance, Procedure, Quality Assurance & Audits Lead audits of mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) charting to ensure compliance with regulatory, payer, and accreditation standards. Identify documentation issues, systemic risks, and training needs; develop and implement corrective action plans. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant regulations, ethical standards, and best practices related to mental health and SUD treatment. Required Qualifications Active, unrestricted mental health license (e.g., LP, LPCC, LMFT, LICSW, or equivalent, as applicable). Experience providing direct clinical services in a mental health and/or SUD treatment setting. Demonstrated minimum of three years experience managing and supervising clinicians and/or clinical trainees. Strong understanding of clinical documentation standards and compliance requirements. Clinical knowledge and skill in working with individuals with cooccurring disorders. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated a minimum of two years experience in clinical operations, program management, or leadership within a behavioral health organization. Understanding of Managed Care Organizations and basic billing functions of a clinic. Experience conducting clinical chart audits and quality assurance reviews. Familiarity with performance metrics, productivity tracking, and data‑driven decision‑making. Advanced proficiency with either Alleva and/or Procentive EHR Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Knowledge of 245G licensing requirements.
