Job Description

This position is for 2nd and 3rd Shift (evenings/nights). This position is responsible for providing care services to residents in the assigned work area in compliance with current applicable federal, state, local and facility standards, guidelines and regulations and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing to assure that the highest degree of quality health care of our residents.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
This position must be licensed as a vocational certified nursing assistant by the State of Illinois.
OTHER:
Ability to get along with others, honesty and punctuality. Good communication skills and safe nursing skills
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs and renders care to the residents within an assigned unit as a licensed staff member. Fill needs of schedule and assignment as needed. Takes vital signs as indicated. Change bed linens as needed, gives showers or baths and assists with dressing. Assists with escorts to the dining room, beauty shop, physical therapy, activities, etc. Responds to resident calls through the nurse call system Assists the resident with tray service. Assists with ongoing assessment of residents' needs to promote independence. Maintains accurate records of observations and services rendered to residents. Working cooperatively with nursing assistants, universal caregivers under the direction of the Nurse. Makes daily visits to resident's room to observe and evaluate physical and emotional status/needs of the residents during shift. Notify Nurse of any change in resident condition. Receives and follows up on resident report from nurse on previous shift. Ensures residents on the Medication Administration plan receive their medications in a timely manner through reminders. Performs all duties in a safe manner and ensures infection control procedures and universal precautions in accordance with facility procedures. Attends in-service education sessions on a regular basis. Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent care information to assure protection of resident rights. Answers telephone calls in a professional manner. 18. Will be required to work after regular work hours, on holidays, and on weekends. 19. Performs other duties as necessary and appropriate or as directed by the Nurse or Director of Nursing.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
1. Must deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government staff and the general public. 2. Must possess good communication skills, and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional staff. 3. Takes initiative to identify and solve problems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, squatting, climbing, and reaching movements. 2. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 3. Walks or stands the majority of the 8-hour workday. 4. Possess good eye-hand coordination. 5. Possess necessary skills to continuously comprehend and communicate with residents and staff 6. Ability to read and write in English. 7. Ability to remain calm under stress. 8. May be exposed to conditions that require use of adequate/appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
