Job Title:
CNC Machinist - Weekend Shift Job Description This role offers an opportunity for a developing or experienced CNC machinist to operate primarily CNC mills, with access to a CNC lathe department, on a clean and modern manufacturing floor. You will load parts into CNC machines, run production, and perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools to ensure high-quality components for medical device, aerospace, and general industry customers. Responsibilities Operate CNC milling machines to produce precision components according to blueprints and work instructions. Load and unload parts into CNC machines, ensuring correct setup parameters are followed for each job. Monitor CNC machining operations and make basic adjustments as needed to maintain part quality and consistency. Perform in-process inspections using calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions and tolerances during machining. Review and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications, features, and critical dimensions. Perform basic deburring of parts when time permits to ensure clean, finished components. Work with CNC lathes as needed, supporting production requirements in the lathe department. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following shop floor standards and safety procedures. Document work as required, including recording measurements and production information. Collaborate with team members and leads to ensure production goals and quality standards are met on the weekend shift. Essential Skills 1-2 years of experience as a machinist or higher-level machining experience. Hands-on experience operating CNC mills in a production or job shop environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints for machined components. Proficiency using calipers and micrometers for in-process inspection and measurement. Basic experience with CNC machine operation, including loading parts and running programs. Familiarity with CNC mill operations and general machine shop practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNC lathes is optional but beneficial. Exposure to DMG and Mori Seiki CNC equipment is a plus. Background in machining parts for medical device, aerospace, or similar precision industries is advantageous. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Ability to work independently on a weekend shift with minimal supervision. Why Work Here? The facility utilizes modern CNC equipment, including DMG and Mori Seiki machines, with a focus on precision and quality. This is a weekend shift role, scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on 12-hour shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with compensation structured for a 40-hour workweek. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and professionalism while supporting high-mix, high-precision machining work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brea, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
