Job Description
Summary Piedmont Machine is a growth oriented firm looking for high quality associates. We are growing rapidly and need to add to our team to support our new progress and goals. The successful CNC Mill - Machinist will use his or her skills as a leader, machinist and fabricator in our job shop environment. This position will work directly with the operations manager and other department leaders and will be required to run jobs on the shop floor as well as manage other employees. With the right motivation and skill set, this position provides tremendous opportunity for learning, advancement and growth with us. CNC Mill - Machinist The CNC Mill - Machinist will setup, review programs, manage, direct, and coordinate the overall production projects. 5 VMCs, 1 HMC, 1 Lathe and (1) 5 Axis Machine. He/she will ensure part setup and programs production are operating in compliance with all company procedures. He/she will ensure continuous improvement is accomplished regarding increasing efficiency, reducing scrap, and meeting delivery requirements. The CNC Mill Machinist will manage the delivery schedule and machine tool/operator utilization and daily production.
Required experience:
CNC Machining:
7+ yearsCAD/CAM:
1 year (preferred, not required) Read and Interpretation of Blueprints and tooling. GD&T knowledge is preferred Ability to set up and operate 5-axis mill, horizontal milling, vertical milling Specifics Read blueprints and manuals to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces. Design and fabricate components. Operate CNC mills, manual mills Machine to close tolerance dimensions (+/- .001) Machine materials including aluminum, steel, stainless steel and plastics. Ability to program FANUC and HAAS controls via long hand or programs Utilize tool changers Proficient with G & M codes Working knowledge of CAD.(preferred) Load, align and set up machines per drawing instructions. Working knowledge of CNC and engineering requirements. Maintain a tool inventory in good repair and sufficient to perform assigned tasks. Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures. Optimize work flow with proper scheduling of resources to complete work ahead of time and under budget. Answer technical questions from others and find solutions efficiently. Communicate with all other departments to ensure proper workflow and timely completion of projects. Education and Experience Proficient knowledge of machining and cutting tools. Thorough understanding of measuring tools and gauging processes. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail. Effective time management and organizational skills. Work independently as well as in a team environment. Analytical and problem solving skills. Maintain Aero and Medical certifications Maintain confidentiality. Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement. Proficient computer skills a plus CAM experience is a plus and preferred Perform under strong demands in a fast-paced environment. Display empathy, understanding and patience with employees and external customers.
