Code Enforcement Officer

The City of Lathrup Village is seeking a motivated and community-focused Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer to support the City's Building Department. This position plays a key role in maintaining neighborhood standards, responding to resident concerns, and ensuring compliance with City ordinances and property maintenance regulations.

Pay:

$25-$30/hour

DOQ Schedule:

Approximately 20 hours per week Key Responsibilities Conduct property and ordinance compliance inspections throughout the City Investigate complaints related to nuisance violations, zoning, signage, trash, overgrown grass, inoperable vehicles, and more Work directly with residents and property owners to achieve voluntary compliance Prepare reports, notices, and documentation related to enforcement actions Assist with rental inspections and other Building Department activities Attend meetings and occasionally respond to after-hours issues Qualifications Experience in municipal code enforcement, building/zoning permits, housing inspections, or related fields preferred Knowledge of Michigan building codes and BS&A software is a plus Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills Valid Michigan driver's license required Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and conduct field inspections The City of Lathrup Village offers a collaborative work environment and the opportunity to make a direct impact on the community.
