Job Description

Job Summary The Combo Sewer Cleaner Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining combination sewer cleaning trucks and related equipment. This role focuses on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, high-pressure water jetting systems, vacuum systems, and auxiliary components to ensure safe, reliable operation of sewer cleaning vehicles. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Diagnose and repair combo sewer cleaner trucks (Vactor, Vac-Con, GapVax, etc.) Perform preventive maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, and drivetrains Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, valves, and hoses Service high-pressure water jetting systems and vacuum blowers Repair PTOs, water pumps, reels, hoses, and auxiliary systems Inspect electrical systems, controls, and sensors Perform welding and fabrication as needed Conduct DOT and safety inspections Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 3+ years experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic Strong knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems Experience working on vacuum trucks, sewer cleaners, or similar equipment Ability to read schematics, manuals, and diagnostic data Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain) Own basic hand tools Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred Qualifications CDL Class B or A ASE Diesel Certification(s) Experience with combo units (Vactor, Vac-Con, GapVax, Super Products) Electrical troubleshooting experience (12V/24V systems) Welding certification (MIG/TIG/Stick) Municipal fleet or industrial equipment experience Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to lift to 75 lbs. Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined areas Exposure to grease, oils, wastewater, noise, and outdoor conditions Work performed in shop and field environments Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Overtime opportunities Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays
Pay:
$20.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 - 70 per week
