About The Position:
This is an 11-month, live-on position that includes some evening and weekend obligations. The successful candidate will provide oversight of the operations of assigned residence halls in their community to include supervision of Community Advocates and two Graduate Community Directors. This professional staff member will support all departmental efforts including but not limited to, community living, orientation, student conduct, residence hall programming, and Campus Housing and Operations support. The Community Development Office operates within the Enrollment and Student Success division and supports students throughout their entire college experience, from admission through graduation. In this role, the selected candidate will contribute to departmental initiatives that promote enrollment, retention, and degree completion. The office is committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and well-maintained residential environment for students living on campus. It collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to positively impact the health, safety, and overall well-being of the student community. Bachelor's degree at the time of appointment (May 2026 graduates are welcome to apply) On-campus living experience for at least one year Experience supervising college students Demonstrated ability to work independently, as part of a team, and collaboratively with campus colleagues and community partners Demonstrated problem-solving skills using a solution-focused approach. Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills Demonstrated ability to cultivate positive relationships with a diverse campus population Willing and ability to perform some evening and weekend workPreferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field Experience working in a department directly related to on-campus living, (i.e., residence life, orientation, student conduct) Experience working with student clubs and/or organizations Experience using technology to manage residence life processes, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace programs Valid driver's license Salary (Applicant View) $42,995 About Our University SUNY Plattsburgh, home of the Cardinals, is part of the largest comprehensive university system in the United States.
