Job Description

True Up Companies is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead accounting operations across our portfolio of companies. This is a strategic leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment and wants to directly influence profitability, process improvement, and business growth. You'll partner closely with ownership and field operations, oversee the full accounting lifecycle, and build scalable systems that support a rapidly expanding organization. What You'll Do:
Lead day-to-day accounting operations across True Up Companies and four related entities Own the month-end close process and deliver timely, accurate financial statements (GAAP) Provide project-level reporting and percent-of-completion revenue recognition Partner with leadership to deliver financial insights, forecasts, and strategic recommendations Develop, mentor, and grow the accounting team Serve as Workday ERP subject matter expert (Financials, Expenses, Procurement, Inventory, Projects, reporting/dashboards) Oversee payroll review, sales tax filings, compliance, and regulatory requirements Manage subcontractor financial administration, payment processes, and controls Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses Support tax planning strategies and coordinate external audits Continuously improve systems, controls, and processes to reduce risk and increase efficiency
What You Bring:
8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience Strong leadership and team development experience Deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Experience with ERP systems (Workday strongly preferred) Background in project or construction accounting a plus CPA or CMA preferred Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Comprehensive benefits package - Medical, Dental, Vision, Life & 401k Matching Leadership visibility and direct impact on company strategy We're excited to meet candidates who want to build, improve and lead!
