DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide case management, family and individual counseling/ therapy, to consumers and families as appropriate to the position; prepare treatment plans, progress notes, discharge plans, and follow-up care plans; provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required. 2. Gather information about consumers through interviews, collateral contact, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach. 3. Provide Individual and family therapy of a specialized caseload of 20-25 clients, as appropriate to the requirements of the individual position; perform in-home visits, in-school visits; provide Behavioral Modification, Parenting, Life Skills, Anger Management, and other services as identified by Individual Service Plans. 4. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of case records; modify ISP as needed; and complete other required paperwork such as monthly progress report, staffing reports, etc. 5. Provide, arrange, and/or refer for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for patients or clients in a crisis condition and for those with serious mental health problems. 6. Follow up to determine progress and attainment of treatment goals; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery. 7. Consults with other therapists and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refer clients to appropriate service agencies as required. 8. Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures. 9. Participate in weekly clinical team meetings, complete staff forms, complete case staffing for assigned consumers. 10. Assist paraprofessionals in performance of clinical duties. 11. Maintain professional relationship with community agencies and referral resources. 12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related Field; with at least 2 years of professional experience in the field of mental health. Licensed by the State of Georgia Composite Board (LCSW, LPC, LAPC, LMSW) or working towards licensure with verification of supervision and exam date.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Knowledge and understanding of clinical social work and mental health counseling disorders and treatment methods, procedures, and standards. Good oral and written communication skills and group facilitation skills. Ability to work independently and meet service objectives efficiently. Knowledge of providing intensive case management to children with emotional disturbances and their families. Knowledge of proper mental health record keeping and documentation. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. Knowledge of community mental health.
Typical Working Conditions:
Most work with this agency is performed with children (under the age of 18 y/o) with mental illness or substance abuse illness. Services are usually provided in office (but can also take place within the home/school or in other community settings). Evening work will be required, depending on the needs of your families. The job involves collaborating with Psychiatrist, DFCS, DJJ, and other community agencies.
