PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Guide students through the admissions and financial aid process, facilitate the application and enrollment process for post-secondary institutions, and facilitate career placement for GCCISD high school students.
QUALIFICATIONS
EducationCertification:
Valid Texas counselor's certificate Master's degree

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
. Work hands-on with students to ensure the application and financial aid process is completed with adherence to timelines. . Work with the school's administration, staff, and faculty to define the college awareness process and implement the necessary programs to provide each grade level with appropriate college guidance. . Network with college admissions professionals to improve the school's visibility and reputation leading to the active recruitment students by institutions higher learning. . Coordinate classroom presentations, student workshops, parent meetings, and college trips for each grade level (at high school and junior school levels). . Provide one-on-one and group college advisement. . Serve as a liaison between high school administrators and community based organizations. . Serve as a liaison between students and potential employers. . Facilitate the attainment industrycareer certifications by CTE students. . Facilitate student enrollment in college and careertechnical training programs. . Maintain necessary data to support programs relating to career placement and college entrance. . Support the campus college and career center. . Assist in the creation advisory lessons. . Track student matriculation to colleges and universities. . Track student progress and maintain records in Naviance. . Provide Naviance training to staff, students, and parents. . Facilitate SATACTPSATAccuplacer preparation, registration, and administration, when appropriate. . Schedule and supervise on campus visits from college recruiters. . Assist students and parents in completing FASFA applications and researching financial aid options. . Work collaboratively with community partners in facilitating the scholarship process. . Facilitate the scholarship process on campus. . Compile and prepare statistical data regarding semester and annual reports. . Schedule and facilitate workshops, classes, focus groups, and special presentations regarding job skills, career opportunities and college access opportunities. . Assist with Parent Nights. . Demonstrate the use appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement. . All other duties as assigned.
