Credit and Accounting Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Credit and Accounting Specialist is responsible for the receipt and accounting of funds paid to the organization, as well as assist with various functions of the Accounting Department. This position will research, recommend, and review customer credit terms as well as collaborate with other departments on issues related to sales orders/invoices, reviewing receivables, and ensuring payments are collected in a timely manner. In addition, this position will assist the Controller with daily functions of the Accounting Department. This position will apply proven communication, process improvement, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of company operations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate and conduct direct collection efforts, document accordingly Process/apply customer payments, process credit card payments and credits Research and solve payment discrepancies; adjust accounts as needed Maintain current aging for all accounts Posting accounts payable invoices Reconcile credit card charges Analyze outbound freight invoices Prepare reports Assist with special projects Perform other related duties as assigned by management

REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management preferred. At least one year of prior collections and/or accounting experience preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to keep information confidential. Ability to exercise integrity and discretion. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software program.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds. This position will require sitting for long periods of time, walking, standing, and bending, as well as using fine motor skills, such as finger dexterity for typing or calculator use. The person in this position frequently communicates with others. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The majority of this job will be spent indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
