The position is relied on to provide professional, accurate and timely communications to our valued customers. The Account Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining customer relationships, managing assigned accounts, generating sales growth, and coordinating customer requirements with operations, purchasing, and logistics teams. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers, providing exceptional service. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, a customer-focused mindset, and experience in the steel, metals, manufacturing, or industrial distribution industries.
Responsibilities:
- Own and manage customer relationships act as the primary point of contact for assigned customers.
- Professionally represent Steel Warehouse in all interactions with customers and internal teams.
- Partner with Outside Sales, Scheduling, Production, and Materials teams to proactively address customer needs.
- Champion and manage Master Contracts, ensuring correct application of pricing and purchases.
- Monitor and manage customer shipments, driving just-in-time delivery and effective inventory management.
- Manage and reconcile customer purchase orders and pricing changes with accuracy. Take ownership of internal and external communications to strengthen customer partnerships
- Monitor and adjust order reports (due reports, aged inventory, ready-to-ship reports, pricing updates).
- Understand customer order patterns and proactively manage the effects of forecasts on production and inventory.
- Document inquiries from potential new customers and pricing information.
- Receive, review, and enter customer claims into internal databases; track claim status, maintain accurate records, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure prompt resolution.
- Assist with execution and accuracy of daily reports and priority communications.
Experience & Education:
- 2-year degree in Business or related field - equivalent experience will be considered.
- Willingness to learn and grow in the steel processing industry.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to balance the needs of the customer with the capabilities and internal constraints of the company. Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
