Job Summary Bell & Hook, Arcata's premier men's gift and lifestyle shop is hiring! Join our dynamic retail team as a Retail Sales Associate! In this role, you will be the friendly face that helps customers discover the perfect products, provides exceptional service, and creates a welcoming shopping environment. Your enthusiasm and product knowledge will help customers make the perfect purchase and ensure they leave satisfied and eager to return. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your retail skills while contributing to a vibrant community-focused store. Duties Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding products that meet their needs, offering product demos when appropriate to showcase features and benefits Operate the cash register (POS system) efficiently for retail sales transactions, including cash handling, credit card processing, and managing cash drawer operations Identify customer needs and recommending additional items to enhance their shopping experience Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and ensure the store is clean, well-maintained, and visually appealing through effective merchandising techniques Conduct retail math calculations accurately for transactions, discounts, and inventory management Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, addressing concerns, and maintaining positive communication with shoppers both in person and over the phone following proper phone etiquette Assist with inventory management tasks such as stocking supplies, monitoring product levels, and participating in periodic stock counts Requirements Previous experience with POS systems and retail sales transactions is preferred Supervising experience or leadership roles in retail environments are a plus Ability to demonstrate products effectively through demos to engage customers Strong communication skills with a friendly attitude and professional phone etiquette Basic math skills for handling cash register operations, retail math calculations, and balancing cash drawers accurately Prior experience in cashiering or retail environments is beneficial but not required Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift merchandise as needed, and work flexible hours including weekends and some holidays. Availability for November/December shifts during peak holiday shopping days are required.
