Job Description

Service Writer Shop Position - Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Initiates automotive and/or equipment services and repairs as needed or requested. Controls inventory using a pro-active approach to ensure items are in-stock or on order for planned maintenance. Other duties and responsibilities including but not limited to: Initiate Work Orders Upon Request for Farm Equipment
  • Open work orders to correct any problems with equipment or vehicles and maintain control until closed
  • Make sure inventory is in stock or is ordered in a timely manner to repair defective components
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair with Supervisors; service vehicles and equipment to maintain functionality
  • Work with Purchasing Coordinator to make sure parts are ordered as necessary
  • Enter all work orders into Maintenance System with precise information in regards to parts and mechanic hours
  • Work with accounting department to ensure correct allocation of parts on vendor invoices Preventive Maintenance Coordination
  • Make sure all equipment is taken in to shop for repair in a timely manner according to maintenance schedules
  • Prepares repair orders (work orders) by describing symptoms, problems and causes discovered
  • Verifies warranty and service contract coverage on vehicles and equipment
  • Enter additional work done into work orders database system
  • Maintenance logs are being properly filled out and maintained Workplace Safety
  • Ensure employees are working in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ensure proper PPE is distributed and always in use
  • Assist with ensuring employees listen to directions and report to superiors if needed
  • Implement safety procedures Special Skills
  • Automotive and heavy equipment knowledge and repair abilities
  • English/Spanish speaking
  • Must be computer literate - ability to use Maintenance tracking system and MS Excel. Must export reports on a weekly basis
  • Ability to work hands on with equipment a plus
  • Forklift certified Environmental conditions
  • Must be able to work outside and in a setting in sometimes extremely hot and/or extremely cold conditions.
Severe weather conditions such as wind, rain and humidity can often be present. Dusty conditions due to working outdoors can be continuously present.
Physical Demands:
  • Perform physical tasks as needed, which include lifting objects that weight from 50 up to 100 lbs & team lifting of 100 lbs or more.
Pushing and pulling with strong force is often required. All other duties as assigned by

$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
