POSITION SUMMARY
The Samaritan Center- Simi Valley is a community resource center serving people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Front Desk & Client Services- Answer phones and email; greet clients, visitors, volunteers, and community members.
- Schedule client appointments and connect people with available resources and services.
- Distribute, log, and securely store client mail.
- Support pantry service; gather groceries, toiletries, and clothing for clients as needed. Administrative & Organizational Support
- Manage spreadsheets, documents, routine filing, and data entry; assist caseworkers and admin coordinator with data entry.
- Maintain office supplies and inventory; order supplies and maintain the Needs List.
- Create and update signs and flyers for pantry needs, wish lists, and special announcements.
- Sort and organize donations; assist with events and fundraising coordination.
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and comfort learning software systems.
- Strong organization, verbal/written communication, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and respectful interactions with clients.
- Consistent and reliable attendance during scheduled front desk hours. Successful completion of a background check is required as a condition of employment. Preferred
- Experience with Google Workspace and Canva.
- Prior office, reception, administrative, or customer-service experience.
- Experience serving people experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, or other vulnerable circumstances.

This is an in-person, public-facing position in a community resource center. The work may involve a busy environment and interactions with individuals experiencing difficult circumstances. Because the Samaritan Center receives and distributes donated goods and pantry supplies, this role regularly involves handling, organizing, and storing donations, pantry items, and supply boxes. The position requires lifting, carrying, moving, and storing items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds and may also involve standing, bending, reaching, and moving items throughout the facility.CONFIDENTIALITY & PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
This position handles client appointments, mail, records, and other sensitive information. The employee is expected to protect client and organizational confidentiality, exercise discretion, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, and treat every person with dignity and respect.COMPENSATION & PAID LEAVE
$20- 22 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
