This role is conducted by phone, email, and online ordering—there are no walk-in retail customers. The ideal candidate is a great communicator, creative thinker, and detail-oriented problem solver who enjoys helping customers make the right product selections. You will work directly with flooring dealers, designers, builders, and other trade professionals to process orders, answer product questions, make design suggestions, and identify opportunities to add products to an order. The successful candidate will be comfortable handling a high volume of customer calls and emails while providing knowledgeable, personalized service. The candidate will listen to the customer's needs, understand the project, offer design and product suggestions, identify opportunities for complementary products, and ensure the order is entered accurately.
Some of the job responsibilities:
Handle a high volume of phone calls and email inquiries from customers in a prompt, professional, and knowledgeable manner. Assist interior designers, builders, architects, retailers, and other customers with tile and natural stone selections for residential and commercial projects. Provide design guidance regarding color, size, pattern, texture, finish, and coordination of materials. Offer thoughtful upselling and cross-selling suggestions that add value to the customer's project. Explain natural stone characteristics such as porosity, durability, maintenance, and appropriate applications. Enter customer orders accurately through the company's online ordering system. Maintain the company's order-processing cycle, including order entry, inventory verification, shipping tickets, backlog reports, and billing. Communicate with purchasing, warehouse, sales, and operations regarding inventory, availability, lead times, substitutions, and customer requirements. Notify customers when material arrives at the warehouse and is ready for shipment or pickup. Manage substitute selling when products are discontinued, delayed, or unavailable while maintaining the customer's design intent and budget. Provide appropriate solutions or alternatives when customers have complaints or product concerns. Stay current on new product launches, product updates, and available inventory. Convey information about tile samples and new products to customers and distributors. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Skills Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with a professional phone etiquette Proven experience in sales and customer support within retail or showroom environments Strong design sense and ability to make creative and practical design recommendations. Ability to identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling. Interest in tile, natural stone, interior design, and architectural materials. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to address customer concerns proactively
Pay:
$20.00 - $21.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
