Duties Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately to handle retail sales transactions, including cash handling, credit card processing, and returns. Provide friendly and professional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries. Conduct product demos when applicable, highlighting features and benefits to encourage sales and upselling opportunities. Maintain knowledge of store products, promotions, and merchandising standards to assist customers effectively. Stock shelves, organize displays, and ensure the sales floor is clean, organized, and inviting. Handle cash drawer balancing at the end of shifts with basic math skills to ensure accuracy. Demonstrate phone etiquette when responding to inquiries or taking orders over the phone. Assist with supervising team members during busy periods or as part of a leadership role, including training new staff on POS operations and customer service protocols. Experience Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering is preferred; grocery store experience is a plus. Demonstrated proficiency in POS systems and cash register operations. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in both English and bilingual settings. Experience supervising or leading team members is advantageous but not required; leadership qualities are highly valued. Familiarity with retail math for cash handling, sales calculations, and inventory management. Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and stock management practices. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
