Job Description

Serve as the primary contact for Municipal Light and Water, providing customer service, utility billing, and collections under the Utility Office Manager. Responsibilities include assisting customers, processing payments and service orders, maintaining records, handling billing issues, and resolving concerns.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Assist customers with billing, service changes, and utility inquiries. Receive payments and address customer inquiries in person, by phone, or online. Resolve customer complaints or refer them as needed. Process and record service orders for all utilities. Establish new accounts, transfer services, and maintain customer records. Review and verify billing accuracy, resolve meter reading discrepancies, and assist with monthly billing schedules. Maintain records for landlords, rental properties, seasonal accounts, and customers with prior uncollectible balances. Coordinate payment arrangements and work with agencies on financial assistance. Generate reports from billing systems and Windows-based applications. Assist in training other Customer Service Representatives. Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of modern office practices and equipment. Ability to prioritize, multitask, and apply office policies with sound judgment. Basic bookkeeping knowledge. Ability to type at least 40 WPM. Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and via computer systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office, with foundational knowledge of Word and Excel. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform light physical tasks. Ability to maintain effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service.
ADDITIONAL AREAS OF INTEREST
English/Spanish bilingual skills. Experience using Microsoft Teams.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from high school and at least one year of experience in bookkeeping or general office work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
Days/Time:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Full-time with benefits
Pay:
$22.09 - $25.57 per hour
