Responsibilities Greet clients warmly upon arrival, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures. Manage appointment scheduling efficiently using veterinary software, ensuring optimal flow of patient visits. Handle phone inquiries professionally, providing information about services, appointments, and pet care advice. Assist with medical collections, billing processes, and processing payments accurately while maintaining confidentiality. Support veterinary staff with administrative tasks such as filing, record keeping, and updating patient charts with veterinary terminology and medical details. Maintain cleanliness and organization at the front desk, reception area, and treatment rooms following aseptic techniques when necessary. Restrain animals safely during examinations or procedures using proper animal restraint techniques while demonstrating knowledge of animal anatomy and handling skills. Coordinate laboratory sample collection or preparation as needed, adhering to USDA regulations and DEA guidelines for medication handling. Some cross over work by assisting the veterinary assistants with kennel duties including animal husbandry, feeding, cleaning, and monitoring pet behavior to ensure comfort and safety. Communicate effectively with clients about pet care instructions, surgery preparations, or follow-up care to enhance client understanding and satisfaction. Experience Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital setting is highly preferred but not required. Familiarity with veterinary software systems for scheduling, record keeping, and medical documentation is essential. The ability to learn quickly and efficiently while working with a cohesive team. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, medical-surgical procedures, companion animal medicine, and pet grooming practices will set you apart. Hands-on experience with dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and basic pet care responsibilities is advantageous. Experience in laboratory procedures or veterinary critical care environments will be considered a strong asset, but not required Ability to communicate clearly with clients about complex medical-surgical topics while demonstrating excellent customer service skills. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for administrative tasks is required. Knowledge of drug enforcement regulations (DEA) and USDA guidelines related to veterinary practice is beneficial but not mandatory.
