Job Description

The Customer Service Specialist II provides customer service and clerical support for Public Health programs, assisting customers with inquiries, program information, vital records requests, WIC scheduling and clerking, immunization appointments, and other transactions. The Specialist applies established policies and procedures, may require WIC certification, and uses independent judgment to address customer needs. Work is performed under general supervision with a moderate degree of independent judgment. Answer telephones and/or personally greet customers Provide program-specific information that requires limited interpretation of established policies, procedures and other relevant sources to internal and/or external customers over the telephone, in writing and/or in person Interview and/or screen internal and/or external customers to establish program specific documentation and/or identify services needed Determine validity, correctness and completeness of information received Maintain and/or retrieve information and compile data that may require information searches through files, contracts, records, microfilm, blueprints, maps, or computer files Perform data entry (may vary according to position assignment) Handle multiple-step transactions such as receiving and/or issuing receipts, forms, cash and documents Draft, proofread and edit documents, contracts, and/or correspondence Assist co-workers as assigned Education/Training High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Experience One year general recordkeeping experience, desirable; Minimum of one year of secretarial or advanced clerical work experience preferred; Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
